Ms CHI Ping Huey, a scholar from a major local bank, graduated from the National University of Singapore with Bachelor of Laws (Hons) and was admitted as an advocate and solicitor to the Supreme Court of Singapore. She is a member of the Singapore Academy of Law.
Ping Huey has more than 25 years of legal (corporate & commercial) experience in various industries including banking, aerospace, utilities, food and gateway, investment as well as telecommunications sectors. She was Head, Legal in Singapore Technologies Aerospace, leading negotiations with numerous OEMs as well as working on various joint ventures, greenfield projects with many stakeholders, whether local or overseas.
She was appointed General Counsel in Singapore Power Limited, SATS Ltd as well as Group Counsel in The Straits Trading Company Limited (“GC”). As GC, she provided leadership for the group’s legal & secretariat affairs as well as corporate governance.
Since her participation under the Lawyers Go Global Program to Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China (2019), Ping Huey continues to take a keen interest in the Chinese laws and its developments. She remains in close contact with her Chinese counterparties and assists them as and when required. She was also a speaker at a Belt and Road Initiative Forum (2019) in Guangzhou.
Over the years, as GC, Ping Huey had led and executed a number of M&A, financing transactions and post integration projects including the following: A$ 13.8 billion consortium bid, A$ 5.1 billion acquisition, A$ 2.128 billion sale of merchant energy business as well as putting in place S$ 8 billion Global MTN programme, US$300 million fixed rate notes under US$ 1.5 billion MTN programme.
Besides the legal portfolio, Ping Huey advised the various boards (both listed and unlisted) and had oversight over the secretariat and governance matters. She was company secretary of Singapore Power Limited and its principal subsidiaries as well as heading up the Division of Administration and Governance whilst she was in SATS Ltd.
