Goodwins COO Mr Noel Ng was invited by the Law Society of Singapore (LawSoc) to be a facilitator at the recent Personal Data Protection (PDP) Week 2022. Organised by the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC), the Conference was graced by the Honourable Josephine Teo, Minister of Communications and Information.
Distinguished panel speakers include Mr Yeong Zee Kin, Deputy Commissioner of the PDPC, who shared about what the PDPC looks for in accountable data use, how PDPC supports and incentivized businesses through recognition as well as explaining the involuntary undertaking process. Other speakers came from key stakeholders and companies such as Amazon Web Services, Accredify, Accenture, RSM, Grab and Lazada.
The well-attended PDP Workshop focused on ‘Navigating the Data Breach Notification Obligations’. Facilitators include members of the Cybersecurity and Data Protection Committee of LawSoc, who brought participants through an immersive data breach notification scenario, involving a phishing attack that leads to the compromise of biometric data. Participants were taught how to respond to a data breach and to be in the know of the legal and practical considerations when responding to such data breaches.
